PE

In PE, we develop physical skills here and now, building on techniques learned then, to prepare pupils for a healthy, active life next. Our PE curriculum nurtures caring team members who respect and support others, curious learners who explore movement and challenge themselves to improve, and courageous individuals who persevere, take risks, and build confidence. Through this approach, we promote teamwork, resilience, positive relationships, and physical and emotional well-being.

We use the Complete PE resource to ensure every teacher is equipped with the knowledge, confidence, and tools to deliver high-quality Physical Education. Units of work are carefully mapped across a two-year rolling programme, covering all aspects of the PE National Curriculum in a progressive and sequential way from EYFS to Year 6. This ensures pupils develop secure foundations, deepen skills over time, and grow as curious learners who reflect, refine, and strive for personal best.

Schools have a fundamental role in ensuring that children engage in at least 60 minutes of physical activity every day. These activities encourage pupils to breathe faster, develop movement competence, and strengthen muscles and bones, while also supporting mental health and emotional regulation. Structured playtime activities, enrichment workshops, clubs, competitions, and visits from sporting role models further reinforce our commitment to an active lifestyle, enabling pupils to be caring towards their own health and others, and courageous in embracing new challenges both in sport and beyond.
